CLUE 7: There are 3 places flanking the park mentioned on the poster you found at Clue 6, 2 are about a block away from the baseball field end of things, and 1 that's NW of the NW corner of the park (across the street from the Light Rail station), where you can find the next poster!
These are ARTS focused, just like our academy!
- One is a newer building, housing an old storytelling & performance -based art.
- Its name is in lights. Big ones.
- A police station is within view.
- It's a big building serving many uses.
- It contains at least one stage.
- And the site is named after its street/avenue. The number of that AVENUE is one less than a baker's dozen.
- The poster is on a pillar of this Dionysus-ish 'temple', but on the inside.
or
- This retail business shares a name with 1 of the two founders of Three Dragons Academy (the founders are Amy & Phoenix)
- From the things in Cal Anderson Park that you might call a 'water volcano', head North By Northwest; go West along E Denny Way, and then turn Right.
- This poster will be found on the West side of Broadway: South of Seattle's most famous Burgers, and North of Seattle's most famous Coffee.
- "Modern Horizons" is coming June 8, but 'War of the SPARK' is currently a big hit at this gaming and comics store, but the name of the business suggests a much more FIERY mythology.
- Look for the History Hunt poster in the lower corner of the window.
- FYI: This is great all-ages and all-inclusive place to play games and follow your favorite graphic novels, too!
or [New!]
- The other is related to culinary arts; a classic food associated with NYC or Naples, Italy.
- This business has a painted mural on the South wall inside, featuring some of Seattle's skyline
- This building is just north of a building that used to be the BMI music company headquarters.
- It's across the street from a performance hall that USED to be "Broadway School" and later had another name.
- On certain days of the week, a farmer's market might be behind you as you look at the poster.
- Let a left-handed guitarist lead you; this 'By The Slice' place is just a few doors north of his Statue.
- You may be able to see an Egyptian from here.
- If you're standing at the register, paying for your slice, look to your Right, at kid height!
Good luck!

CLUE 8:
This building is on the Historic Register, is a privately-owned/run center for the community, and also is the backdrop for the oldest Farmer's Market in Seattle! The Neighborhood (and its streets) have changed names many (many) times since it was first named 'Brooklyn' back in 1890! AND Just a few blocks south of the poster sites was the location of Seattle's FIRST world's fair (over 50 years prior to the old famously associated with the Space Needle), the Alaska Yukon Pacific World Expo!
There are two places you can find a poster at this, the final site.
At BOTH sites you may find paintings / public art installations created by our Three Dragons Academy & SPARK students !
The first:
- Find the building mentioned on the poster of Clue 7, itself.
- This is another neighborhood with 'District' in the name, but it's otherwise just one letter.
- Check the Exterior windows , and specifically windows in Doors.
- The building used to have a different name, but a somewhat similar purpose.
- It's 117 years old! (Happy birthday, building! You don't look more than 100!)
- The playground is privately reserved during weekdays.
- It houses a wide variety of organizations, but song, dance, theatre, & art all feature prominently.
- Feel free to quietly & gently play the musical instrument in the main hall!
- The SE corner of the lot is actually a Seattle public park (New & yet unnamed)!
- This building is currently covered on one side or more with scaffolding.
- The avenue nearby, and at which the poster faces, used to be called "14th Ave", but if you read the street signs, it's neither 14th, nor an Avenue anymore. And yet it has had its one-word nickname , 'The Ave', for decades now!
- Orientation: Face West while on the East entrance. Look closely.
- This is our final stop: we've taken a trip through the timeline from "NewYork-Alki" to the neighborhood once known by a NYC borough name (only one Avenue name still hints that this 'hood used to be called... Brooklyn).
- FYI: This building was converted from an unused Seattle public school building to a neighborhood-owned center for the community in 1990, exactly 100 years after Brooklyn has originally been named.
or...
The other poster can found at:
- Find the building mentioned by the Clue #7 poster
-Head to the intersection nearest to a basketball court.
- From here, you may be able to see a Venezuelan themed business, 'up some stairs from the sidewalk'. Look for the mural that contains a sideways flag of Venezuela.
- The wall along the sidewalk is covered in something that might remind of you of MC Escher.
- You can see the building mentioned in the clue 7 poster, as well as a book-themed public art sculpture from here!
- The illusion is next door (- and it's a wonderful place to really see '...a Wonderful Life' each xmas season)!
- There's a secret door that can connect your "dinner and movie" night out.
- If you see that the Chica is vegetarian... you're at the right place.
- Don't let the short steepness get in your way.
- Final orientation: Face south after climbing the stairs, as if you're about to go in!
- This business opened just a few years ago, our final stop on the Emerald City History Hunt timeline!
If you come here first, be sure to head to the other poster site afterwards!!
Good luck!! and thank you for joining us on this journey!!
